Pattaya Project: The Freedom Garden

For the past 10 years, Home of New Beginnings (HNB), our partner in Thailand, has provided a pathway to freedom for women in Bangkok’s red light districts. During that time, they dreamed of expanding a few hours south to Pattaya, the unofficial “Sex Capitol of the World.” Recently, HNB had the opportunity to purchase three properties, allowing this dream to come alive. The properties, and an adjoining garden space, are ideally situated to develop a self-sustaining safe house, along with viable vocational training.

Here’s the plan: HNB Pattaya will open a farm-to-table restaurant in the bottom two floors of their shop houses, which will provide sustainable income for the HNB safe house and offer women the opportunity to train and gain skills in horticulture, culinary arts, and restaurant management. The first step in all of this coming to fruition is the planting of the Freedom Garden—and that’s where you come in.

By supporting the creation of “The Freedom Garden,” you contribute to the sustenance and growth of the organic produce and herbs that will be used by the on-site restaurant and safe house. The $15,000 needed will cover the planning and building of the irrigation system and well, mushroom houses, concrete raised planter beds, fencing, and all landscaping materials and plants.
